ABOUT ME

I am a Holocaust and Genocide Studies student and recently finished my undergraduate degree in History. With such an intense degree, my sewing has been a way for me to enjoy my creative side and take my knowledge of historical and vintage fashion and use it for my own clothing. I love to take inspiration from historical clothing, movies, magazines, and many other places to create vintage inspired designs with a twist.

Before starting my history degree, I took Costume Cutting an Construction at Olds College. Here I learnt how to flat draft, do proper fittings, and many other new skills that I know use to make my designs as detailed and long lasting as possible. I regularly took part in fashion shows around Canada and made an eco-friendly collection of vintage inspired designs for Future Oceans Canada. Although I no longer create my clothes for sale, I am still passionate about making slow fashion and I have sewn most of my wardrobe.

I use this website and blog as a way for me to document the clothes that I have made, the lessons I have learnt, the mistakes I have made, and the successes I have along the way. I often try to tie in my interest in history with the dresses I make, and I often include research I have done about the era's of clothing that I am inspired by. I hope that you are able to enjoy the clothes that I make and the stories of the past that I have included with many of them!
